Concierge.com has a fantastic list of the world’s best budget beaches that everyone should check out. It’s a stellar list that I commented on below. However, I can’t copy their pictures, and those are what really make the beach list a good one. Inspiring travel photography is always fun to look at, so be sure to check out the concierge’s travel site after you read the list here.
- Yelapa, Mexico - “This fishing village, on the Pacific coast 20 miles southwest of Puerto Vallarta, was once a hideout for Bob Dylan. Today, the roadless landscape—think mountains and waterfalls—preserves the artsy, condo-free vibe.”
- St. John, US Virgin Islands - Cool US Virgin Island
- Florida Keys - Not really that budget in Key West. If you stay in the middle or upper keys it can be quite a bit cheaper.
- Sea Island in Georgia - It’s just Georgia. But it’s nice.
- Los Roques, Venzuela - “Posada El Botuto is located on the only developed island in the chain, Gran Roque. We use the term “developed” lightly: It has no cars, for one thing, and the entire atoll is actually a large national park, with countless deserted stretches of sand to plop down on.”
- Cat Island, Bahamas - Supposedly one of the cheaper destinations in the Bahamas, and it offers 46 miles of sandy beach.
- Samana Peninsula, Dominica Republic - “JetBlue is making the Dominican Republic a hot zone with so many cheap flights. But we suggest flying into Santiago and then taking the short flight (or a three-hour drive) to the Samaná Peninsula.”
- Anegada, British Virgin Islands - Solid Virgin Island that my friend actually visited during his Christmas break.
- Ko Phi Phi, Thailand - My favorite of the list. “Clear green seas lap against golden shores where a massage, a cocktail, a plate of spicy noodles, and just about everything seems to only cost a few bucks.” Ocean front rooms start around $30 too.
- Kauai, Hawaii - Last time I checked, Hawaii was expensive… But Kauai offers the best beaches in Hawaii, or so I’ve heard
- St. Barths - 22 Caribbean beaches offer everything you’d expect from a St. ___ Island
- Mozambique - Actually, an African country along the Indian border (think north-east Africa). If you can get there relatively cheaply, you can expect the cost of living to be well below the norm of typical beach resort areas.
- Costa Rica - “Costa Rica still has its rugged and relaxed corners, like the surf town of Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula.”May to December offer the best time for surfing.
