If you have some excess money and want a near perect beach vacation, consider going an hour south of Miami to The Bahama’s Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman seems to have it all for those seeking luxurious, relaxing beach vacations.
So, here’s a simple breakdown of the island’s advantages and disadvantages. You can then decide if it’s somewhere you’d like to spend your beach vacation.

Travel Grand Cayman …
- Pristine Beaches and water - Crowdless beaches and clear blue water are always necessary. See the Cayman picture.
- Low crime - Grand Cayman has virtually no crime, unlike some of its Carribbean counter parts. So you’re safe at almost all tiems on the island.
- Upscale - There are no typical impoverished areas here. So you do not have to worry about beggars or traveling through poverty to get to your destination.
- Friendly - The island is inhabited by Brits, Aussies, and Irish who are suppose to be real nice to most everyone.
Why not to travel to Grand Cayman
- Price - It is spendy, no lie. Cheap hotel rooms can be had for near $170/night. But the larger, nicer resorts start near $240/night. In addition to accomodations, expect food and everything else to be really expensive as well.
- Lack of culture - The Grand Cayman is a great place to relax on the beach, snorkel, and kick it for a few days, but it lacks in the “culture” department. By visiting Grand Cayman, you lose the historical and cultural vibe that can be found on islands like Puerto Rico and Jamaica.
All in all, the Grand Cayman is a solid vacation destination for beach lovers not afraid to spend their money. It offers great beaches, security, and relaxation at the expense of your checkbook.
